Brand Strategist

A leading FMCG company is seeking a freelance brand strategist to support the launch of a new non-alcoholic canned beverage. The brand’s core identity, including logo, tagline, and guidelines, is already established. The strategist will play a pivotal role in refining and activating the brand strategy, ensuring the product stands out in a competitive market. This position requires a structured, insight-driven approach to clarify the brand narrative, enhance positioning, and guide go-to-market activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in FMCG, beverage, or youth-focused brands, and a strong understanding of the South Asian market landscape. All deliverables will be used by internal teams and partner agencies to drive successful brand activation.

• Refine and articulate the brand’s positioning and messaging architecture using existing assets
• Conduct category and competitive analysis to identify differentiation opportunities
• Develop actionable go-to-market strategies for digital, marketing, and on-ground activation
• Provide strategic guidance for internal teams and partner agencies to ensure consistent brand execution
• Prepare clear, insight-driven documentation to support brand activation and communication

• Proven experience in brand strategy, ideally within FMCG, beverage, or youth-oriented sectors
• Strong understanding of the Sri Lankan or broader South Asian consumer market
• Ability to synthesize insights and translate them into practical, actionable strategies
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with digital, marketing, and on-ground activation tactics
• Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach
• Availability for remote collaboration and timely delivery of project milestones
