WORK SCHEDULE: Varies between day and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays
JOB CATEGORY: Part-time/hourly
SALARY: Starts at $25.00/hr.
JOB SUMMARYServes as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Porter County Juvenile Justice Services - Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), responsible for monitoring and supervising medical and health needs of residents within a secure 24-bed facility, managing the medical room, and managing resident medication. Must be able to work various shifts including weekends and holidays. Candidate must be at least 21 years old. All applicants must submit to criminal, Department of Child Services, and sex offender registry background checks.
JOBDUTIES
- Assist the facility Health Care Practitioner/Physician and facility Nurse with the completion of Health Care Assessments and Health Examinations.
- Assist the facility Nurse with daily sick call requests.
- Assist the facility Nurse in the acceptance, dispensing and monitoring of resident medication.
- Ensure Health Care Practitioner orders are adhered to and implemented.
- Review daily medical alerts and amend as necessary in cooperation with the facility RN and Health Care Authority ensuring that each shift has necessary information for resident care.
- Perform ongoing health care assessments of juveniles, as needed, for the duration of their incarceration.
- Must have a high school diploma or HSE and completed a certified LPN vocational training course.
- Perform the services of a licensed practical nurse, with a valid and current license issued by the State of Indiana, within the clinical setting ually provide current credentials and licensure to the Facility Director.
- Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
- Ability to obtain/maintain certification in first-aid and CPR, Basic Life Support, and formal training in crisis intervention, safety and security procedures.
- Ability to effectively supervise, direct, monitor and appropriately interact with juvenile residents.
- Ability to maintain detailed records, prepare related reports and documents, and maintain confidentiality of facility reports and information as required.
