Job Summary

The Lab Technician supports manufacturing operations by preparing chemical solutions and coatings, performing product testing and quality checks, maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting manufacturing activities, and following established laboratory and safety procedures. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments to ensure products are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and safely.

Essential Job Functions
  • Prepare chemical solutions and coatings by following established formulas, procedures, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Perform product testing and quality inspections to verify products meet established specifications.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Document manufacturing activities, test results, and production records accurately.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, chemical handling requirements, and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory levels and assist Procurement in maintaining required supplies.
  • Document laboratory activities and assist with developing, updating, and maintaining laboratory procedures and work instructions.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to support production goals.
  • Perform additional laboratory and manufacturing support duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and supervisor direction.
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret SOPs, safety procedures, equipment manuals, and technical documents.
  • Basic laboratory troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple assignments.
  • Ability to analyze problems and identify practical solutions.
  • Proficient using computers, Microsoft Office applications, and standard office equipment.
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or another scientific discipline preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in reagent or chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a laboratory or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and quality procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Wear required laboratory PPE, including gloves, lab coat, and safety glasses.
  • Work safely around laboratory chemicals and equipment.
