Compensation: $28.58 - $29.72 per hour; $7,500 sign‑on bonus for Tier 1 Certified applicants with at least two years of qualifying experience.
ResponsibilitiesCandidate must meet Indiana Law Enforcement Academy physical fitness standards, be able to exert force up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly; sit for extended periods; drive patrol vehicles; run, jump, stand, and walk for long periods; use vehicles, bicycles, firearms, chemical spray, impact weapons, knives, and other defensive tools; operate an Automated External Defibrillator and perform CPR.
Must read, write, comprehend instructions, and analyze problems with judgment and discretion.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
- Ability to meet all mental and physical requirements listed above and the fitness standards of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
- Pass a written examination and polygraph test pre‑offer.
- Pass a post‑offer/pre‑employment psychological evaluation, medical, drug and alcohol test.
- Pass skills test.
- Minimum age 21 at time of hire.
- U.S. citizenship in accordance with Indiana Code 250
IAC 2‑3‑1.
- Associate’s degree or two years of college or equivalent law enforcement experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Completion of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy basic training course or equivalent accepted program.
- Law enforcement experience in a campus/university environment.
