Mobile Diesel Mechanic II - Class C License

Position: Mobile Diesel Tech II – DOT Management Level

Must live in the specified city, state, or region. Flexible work option. 100% Travel.

Compensation: Hourly base pay $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. Potential commission or incentive program.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment; use handheld computers and pressure gauges; road‑test vehicles to ensure proper operation.
• Identify problems, assess accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives.
• Independently manage parts inventory; maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
• Engage with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
• Prioritize and manage concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively.
• Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work on Repair Orders using a company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application; upload pictures, parts used, and findings.
• Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
• Maintain high productivity and compliance with standard repair times.
• Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors when necessary.
• Communicate with management and support via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and purchase orders.
• Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

• High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience. Alternative: any level degree/certification beyond HS diploma or 5 years of experience.
• Must possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
• Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
• Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. A current DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a physical.
• Candidate must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid Class C driver’s license. Must hold a state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
• Preferred certifications within 18 months: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), 608/609.
• Experience with mobile service operations and DOT inspection compliance.
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderate heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
