MacOS​/Networking Software Engineer

Principal Software Engineer – macOS Network Agent

Proofpoint is a global leader in human- and agent-centric cybersecurity. We protect how people, data, and AI agents connect across email, cloud, and collaboration tools. This role focuses on leading the design and development of a network agent/driver for the macOS environment.

• Lead the design and implementation of a macOS-based network agent/driver
• Define scalable, secure, and high-performance system architectures
• Evaluate technical trade-offs and make strategic engineering decisions

• Build and maintain core components in Objective-C and/or Swift for macOS
• Develop low-level networking functionality and integrations
• Contribute to backend or cross-platform components using Golang
• Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability

• Work closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams
• Translate product requirements into technical solutions
• Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and architectural discussions

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong expertise in networking concepts (TCP/IP, sockets, protocols, packet flow, etc.)
• Proven experience in system design and architecture
• Hands‑on experience building macOS applications using Objective‑C and/or Swift
• Experience developing system-level or agent-based software

• Passion for building reliable, scalable, and secure systems
• Experience with macOS system, networking frameworks
• Familiarity with security and endpoint protection technologies
• Background in performance optimization and debugging low-level issues
• Experience working in distributed or cross-platform environments
