- Safely operate a large vehicle to collect and transport solid waste, recyclables, and other materials
- Load and unload the truck, and operate the mechanical attachments for loading, compressing, and dumping
- Check dumpsters for unacceptable waste and repair needs, and retrieve recycling containers
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to perform pre-trip inspections and ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle
- Wash the interior and exterior of the truck
- Report needed repairs
- Drive along a predetermined route to designated areas
- Be willing to work in almost any type of weather conditions
- Valid CDL
- Safe driving
- Knowledge of garbage truck and or semi- truck operations
