Substitute Bus Driver

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Substitute School Bus Driver. In this position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and related activities. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive and safe environment on the bus while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.

• - Safely operate a school bus to transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events.
• - Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• - Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, ensuring a comfortable environment for students.
• - Monitor student behavior and enforce safety rules to ensure a respectful and safe atmosphere on the bus.
• - Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any issues that may arise.
• - Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.
• - Attend required training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
• - Follow all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations, as well as school district policies.
• - Assist students with disabilities or special needs as required.

• - High school diploma or equivalent.
• - Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a school bus endorsement.
• - Clean driving record with no major violations.
• - Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle preferred.
• - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• - Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
• - Must pass a background check, drug test, and physical examination.
• - Flexibility to work early morning and late afternoon hours.
• - Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
