The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data and contributes to timely month-end and year-end closings. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
What You Will Do- Primary contact for all Accounts Payable actions.
- Processes AP invoices in Maximo.
- Coordinates with supervisors to ensure all invoices are approved in a timely manner.
- Run reports to monitor status of invoices and ensure payments are processed on time.
- Prepares and posts journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
- Reconciles bank statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts.
- Assists with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Supports the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Maintains supporting schedules for fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Reviews expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assists with audit preparation and responds to auditor requests.
- Helps ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Works with MS Office, Maximo, and Great Plains software.
- Assists with Accounts Receivable when needed.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP practices
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
