Job Overview

The Accounting Assistant is a key member of the finance team, responsible for supporting daily accounting operations with a focus on payroll processing, journal entries, updating financial reports, general ledger reconciliation, and assisting with physical inventory counts. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency with accounting software, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing:
    Prepare, review, and process payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Journal Entries:
    Record and post journal entries in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
  • General Ledger Reconciliation:
    Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Physical Inventories:
    Assist in organizing and conducting physical inventory counts, reconciling inventory records with actual counts, and reporting variances.
  • Assists in processing purchase orders, freight charges, and receiving.
  • Answer and direct phone calls and other communications to appropriate personnel.
  • Greets visitors and provides general information or directs them as needed.
  • Files, organizes, and maintains physical and digital records, documents, and correspondence.
  • Performs other clerical tasks to support day‑to‑day office functions.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (such as Quick Books or SAP).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
