Senior Accountant (Contract-to-Hire) – North of Lebanon, IN;
Fully on-site with potential for hybrid flexibility down the road.
We are partnering with a growing small business to identify a hands‑on Senior Accountant for a contract‑to‑hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, taking ownership of the month‑end process, and supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations while helping improve processes and reporting.
The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast‑paced small‑business environment.
Responsibilities- Manage and participate in the month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with financial statement preparation and monthly reporting
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Monitor cash activity and assist with cash flow reporting
- Analyze financial data and research variances or discrepancies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
- Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies
- Collaborate with leadership and operational teams on ad‑hoc financial projects
- Support ERP/system clean‑up, implementations, or reporting enhancements as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month‑end close
- Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations
- Hands‑on experience with A/P, A/R, and cash management preferred
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Quick Books, Sage, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Prior experience in a small or mid‑sized business environment preferred
