The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all Accounts Payable functions for the company including printing vendor invoices, matching packing slips to invoices, entering invoices, running weekly check runs, reconciling vendor statements, and supporting daily office tasks. The position supports the accounting department in the full functionality of Accounts Payable, including accurate daily matching and invoice processing, weekly payment runs, year‑end 1099 processing, and collaboration with other departments as needed.
JOB OVERVIEWThe Accounts Payable Specialist contributes to the HGC company's mission by ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner per agreed‑upon terms and maintains open communication, resulting in timely invoice entry and a real‑time snapshot of cash flow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Print vendor invoices
- Match packing slips to invoices
- Enter accounts payable invoices
- Run weekly check runs
- Reconcile vendor statements and correspondence
- Assist with other office tasks (filing, mail, record maintenance, scanning, copying)
- Work independently and make decisions in accordance with established finance policies and regulations
- Assist with Accounts Receivable as needed
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Maintain high moral character and good attendance record
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
- Proficient math skills, including multi‑step calculations and reasoning

- High School Diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred; 7 years of Accounts Payable experience required in lieu of degree
- Minimum 5 years of Accounts Payable experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience working within an ERP system preferred
- Experience with Microsoft NAV (preferred) or Epicor Kinetic (a plus)
Sitting and walking for long periods; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; occasionally push, pull, twist, reach, and engage in rapid reflex movements; occasionally climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs if needed; occasionally lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSManufacturing plant and office employees may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles.

COMPENSATION$25 to $28 per hour based on experience.
CLASSIFICATIONFull‑Time, Non‑Exempt.
SCHEDULEMonday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
LOCATIONOn‑Site, Indianapolis (Martindale‑Brightwood area).
