Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Controller:
• Supervise and mentor a team of 3 direct reports, providing ongoing coaching and feedback
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Coordinate and assist with the annual budgeting process alongside department leaders
• Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory compliance
• Partner with the Controller and senior management to analyze financial data and support strategic decisions
• Prepare audit schedules and serve as a primary contact for external auditors
• Review accounting processes and systems, identifying and implementing best practices
• Stay current on accounting standards and nonprofit regulations
• Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
Qualifications for the Assistant Controller:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4+ years of relevant accounting or financial management experience
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring a team required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and compliance standards
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-driven mindset
