Accountant
Location:
Indianapolis, IN
The Accountant is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, create and maintain periodic reporting, prepare journal entries, maintain fixed assets, assist in annual budgeting, and produce standard accounting and financial reports for third‑party clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information to lenders/owners.
- Prepare and monitor monthly accruals and adjust when needed.
- Review budget‑to‑actual variances and record correcting journal entries for account discrepancies.
- Record and reconcile balance sheet activity.
- Maintain fixed‑asset system, including posting monthly depreciation/amortization entries.
- Perform bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit.
- Monitor cash balances to ensure funds meet operational needs and provide timely updates.
- Ensure lender payments, property taxes, and other taxes are recorded accurately and processed on time.
- Review and approve assigned property invoices.
- Respond to owners, business leaders, operations team, and others regarding financial reports and statements.
- Prepare analysis of accounts as required.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement efficient procedures or tools.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by authorized personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience applying GAAP.
- One to three years of related experience, preferably with a multi‑family property management company.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and property‑management software (e.g., Yardi, Pay Scan, MRI, One Site).
- Working knowledge of email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year. Includes 401(k) match, rental discounts/incentives, bonuses, medical, dental, vision, voluntary benefits, vacation and sick time accrual.
