Senior Accountant

Overview

TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team at the NSSC. The role involves completing and maintaining general ledger transactions, performing complex balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing financial reports for TEGNA business units. The position requires strong problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills and experience with financial reporting and accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. This is a hybrid position.

• Participate actively in the month-end close process by preparing and analyzing monthly journal entries and reporting documents for TEGNA business units, including handling larger and more complex needs.
• Reconcile and analyze assigned balance sheet accounts to supporting documentation and resolve balancing issues in the reconciliations.
• Manage expense accounting duties, including auditing receipts and applying proper tax treatment.
• Establish and maintain a high-quality customer service relationship with sites.
• Prepare various monthly reports and analyses for internal and external management and audit groups.
• Exercise good judgment in planning, analysis, and follow-up to maintain essential job functions.
• Take initiative on tasks that drive operational efficiencies.
• Perform other duties as required, including special projects.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred in accounting or a related business concentration, with 2-5 years of related experience. An associate degree will be considered with equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills; analytical and detail-oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on superior customer service.
• Good knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Strong systems orientation with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Oracle Cloud ERP general ledger knowledge is preferred.
• Shared service experience is a plus.
