Job Title: Accounting Manager – Construction (Job Costing & WIP)

Location: Indianapolis, IN - Castleton area (Onsite)

Pay Rate: $100,000 – $120,000/year base + annual performance bonus

A well‑established, commercial construction company in business for 40+ years and still family‑led is growing and adding this role to keep up with increased revenue.

Currently, accounting is split into an operations team handling AP/AR, an off‑site bookkeeper, and an outside CPA firm.

The goal of this role is to bring accounting in‑house (partner as needed with the outside CPA firm), maintain monthly financials long‑term, and grow as the company grows.

• Full‑cycle accounting: AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, and month‑end closing.
• Job costing, WIP (work‑in‑progress) accounting, and project‑level financials across commercial construction jobs (manufacturing, education, and healthcare facilities).
• AIA billing, percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition, collections, and lien releases.
• Cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Weekly payroll review and approval for a 60‑person team (processed in‑house).
• Partnership with the outside CPA firm on taxes, audits, and financial reporting.
• Direct collaboration with Project Managers, Estimators, Operations, customers, and vendors.
• Process improvement – modernizing systems, reporting, and workflows as the company scales.

• Base salary: $100,000 – $120,000, based on experience.
• Bonus: Annual performance bonus (recent employee bonus: $12,000).
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility for occasional after‑hours work during month‑end close.
• Health insurance: Company pays 50% of premium; eligible Day 1; dental and vision included.
• 401(k): Eligible after 6 months, with a 4% company match.
• PTO & Paid Holidays:

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including construction accounting.
• Hands‑on experience with job costing and WIP (work‑in‑progress) accounting.
• Experience with AIA billing / percentage‑of‑completion billing.
• Strong AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and financial statement experience.
• Proficiency in Quick Books;
  Procore experience is a plus.
• Strong communicator who can work cross‑functionally with customers, vendors, leadership, and internal teams.
• Degree or equivalent hands‑on experience accepted.
• Candidates must have prior construction accounting and job costing/WIP experience to be considered for this role.
• Background check and drug screening required as a condition of employment.
• This is an onsite position and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
• The employer does not provide visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Indiana Notary (or willing to obtain).
• Background in construction, industrial, painting, flooring, or specialty contracting.
• Experience supporting operations with job performance analysis and production.
