Property Accounting Specialist

At Flaherty & Collins Properties, great communities depend on strong financial operations behind the scenes. Our Property Accounting team helps ensure that property-level financial information is accurate, timely, and useful to the teams making decisions every day.

We're looking for a Property Accounting Specialist who is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated by getting the numbers right. If you enjoy working with financial data, solving problems, and partnering with Property Management teams to keep things running smoothly, this could be a great opportunity for you.

What You'll Do:

Support the day-to-day accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties.

Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly financial close activities.

Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations.

Review property financial activity to identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, or items requiring follow-up.

Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other property-level accounting processes.

Support the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements and property reports.

Work closely with Property Managers to answer accounting questions and provide financial information.

Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance reporting.

Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies.

Assist with audits, tax requests, lender reporting, and other financial information requests as needed.

Research and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.

Contribute to process improvements and special projects that increase the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting team.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

2+ years of accounting experience preferred, with real estate or property accounting experience a plus.

Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.

Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring monthly deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Experience with property management or accounting software is a plus.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Property Management and Accounting teams.
