Senior Accountant - Life & Reinsurance

We're partnering with a fast-growing life insurance and reinsurance platform expanding its Finance team in Hartford.

This is a great opportunity for a technically strong accountant to gain broad exposure across US GAAP, statutory reporting, reinsurance, financial analysis and strategic Finance initiatives.

You'll work closely with Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Investment Accounting and Reinsurance teams across the business.

• Support US GAAP and US Statutory close and reporting
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and reporting schedules
• Support external reporting and earnings analysis
• Analyze results and explain key business drivers
• Account for ceded and assumed life & annuity reinsurance
• Partner with Actuarial, Investment Accounting and Reinsurance teams
• Support new accounting implementations, integrations and strategic projects
• Strengthen controls and improve accounting/reporting processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA/MBA a plus
• 4+ years of accounting or financial services experience
• Life & annuity insurance/reinsurance experience preferred
• Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge
• Experience with reinsurance accounting
• Advanced Excel and financial systems skills
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving abilities
• Proactive, commercially minded and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

This is a great position for someone looking to leave assurance or auditing, or is currently working in a financial reporting capacity with another insurance or financial services firm.
