Job Statement:
The Senior Accountant is a highly motivated, customer/member-friendly, and detail-oriented employee for the Indiana Association of REALTORS®. This role serves the association by maintaining financial records, generating financial reports, and recording a wide range of transactions. The Senior Account is also responsible for assisting the Director of Member Finance with the membership database.
- Responsible for directing and maintaining the membership database.
- Responsible for monthly financials preparation.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliations; including bank, fixed asset, and prepaid expenses.
- Handles member renewals/retention.
- Consults and assists customers via phone calls, emails, and requests.
- Directs unanswerable questions to the appropriate person.
- Reconciles membership dues, RPAC contributions, and other receivables.
- Works with local associations in processing funds efficiently.
- Prepares monthly revenue recognition journal entries for Controller.
- Process member changes, reactivation, office information changes, new applicants, office transfers, terminations, member payments, refunds, and requests.
- Collaborates with the accounting department on all billing-related matters.
- Ability to work independently, anticipate problems, and initiate corrective actions.
- Ability to quickly adapt and learn new skills/techniques where technology is evolving.
- Effectively prioritize a variety of projects and functions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and members.
- Ability to manage a diverse number of responsibilities and individuals.
- Knowledge and application of problem resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft products.
Experience in non-profit or membership services. - Experience with political action committees and fund accounting.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and extreme attention to detail.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- FLSA:
Exempt - Position type/hours:
Full time;
In office Mon, Tues, Thurs, at home Wed. and Fri. (8 AM - 4:30 PM)
Preferred education/experience: database knowledge/management, excel, Microsoft Office, basic accounting, masters/accounting, college degree
- Minimum 2-3 years experience as a staff accountant.
- Minimum knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.
Work environment:
Office setting, alongside finance team and supervisor(s)
Travel:
In/out of state, ~10% of overall occupation
