Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Plant Controller to lead the financial operations of a manufacturing facility in Bristol, IN. This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for the full accounting operations of the plant, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls, and providing financial guidance to operational leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the ability to partner closely with Operations, Plant Management, and executive leadership. This individual will manage a team of four while remaining hands-on with the financial operations of the facility.

The Plant Controller will serve as a key business partner, using financial data and analysis to improve profitability, operational performance, cost management, and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and oversee the full accounting and finance operations for the manufacturing facility.

  • Lead and develop a team of four accounting and finance professionals.

  • Manage the complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reporting.

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, partnering closely with Operations and senior leadership.

  • Develop financial forecasts, analyze business trends, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.

  • Partner directly with Plant and Operations leadership to understand production performance, cost drivers, labor, overhead, inventory, and profitability.

  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.

  • Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, and prior-year performance, identifying key variances and corrective actions.

  • Establish and monitor financial and operational KPIs to measure plant performance.

  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and financial controls.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of plant financial results.

  • Support inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost management.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and increased profitability.

  • Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes while ensuring compliance with company policies.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance and Accounting on reporting, forecasting, audits, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support capital expenditure analysis and provide financial justification for plant investments.

  • Assist with financial modeling and analysis for operational improvements and long-term planning.

  • Communicate financial results and recommendations clearly to plant leadership and executive management.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.

  • Significant experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.

  • Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

  • Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to own or oversee the full accounting function.

  • Previous leadership experience with the ability to manage, develop, and mentor a team.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing financials, cost accounting, inventory, labor, overhead, and operational performance.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.

  • Ability to partner effectively with Operations and translate financial information into actionable business recommendations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced certification is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on finance leader who understands that the Plant Controller role goes beyond producing financial statements. You will be expected to understand the operation, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and work alongside Operations to improve the overall performance of the plant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned accounting leader who wants to own the plant's financial operations, lead a team, partner directly with Operations, and have a meaningful impact on profitability and business performance.
