The State of Indiana is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage, analyze, reconcile, and report financial information while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and accounting standards.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, financial reconciliation, budgeting, financial reporting, and government/public accounting

- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial reports.
- Maintain and examine financial records for government agencies.
- Monitor budgets and advise leadership/controller on account status.
- Prepare and interpret complex financial statements and reports.
- Reconcile complex discrepancies between accounts.
- Review grant reconciliation reports for grant-funded accounts.
- Assist with budget preparation and financial planning.
- Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and work methods.
- Oversee the use of computerized accounting systems.
- Establish accounting/bookkeeping controls and processes.
- Certify the accuracy of agency financial records and accounts.
- Provide accounting guidance to program staff and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies.

Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite

Schedule: 37.5 hours/week | 7:00 AM–3:00 PM OR 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $36.00/hour

- 5+ years of Accounts Receivable experience
- 5+ years of experience reconciling complex account discrepancies
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Extensive knowledge of public accounting theories, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state accounting/bookkeeping laws, policies, and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of automated accounting systems.
- Ability to lead budget preparation.
