Company Description Joy’s House is an Indianapolis nonprofit providing care for the whole family through Adult Day Services and the Center for Caregivers. At our Broad Ripple House, adults living with aging related and life altering diagnoses receive dependable weekday care, meaningful activities, personal support, and connection while family caregivers have time to work, attend appointments, manage responsibilities, or simply recharge.

Through the Center for Caregivers, Joy’s House also supports caregivers across Indiana with education, resources, connection, and programs. Since opening our doors, Joy’s House has remained committed to helping families navigate caregiving with greater support, understanding, and access to the resources they need.

Joy’s House is seeking an organized, highly dependable Financial Coordinator to manage and coordinate the day to day financial activities of our nonprofit organization and help ensure our financial records, systems, and processes are accurate and timely.

This position will serve as the primary internal point person for daily financial operations, working closely with Joy’s House leadership and our external accounting consultant.

The ideal candidate enjoys the details, understands Quick Books, takes pride in accuracy and organization, and cares about the people and families we serve through our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain routine financial reports for leadership.
  • Maintain budget to actual reports and provide information needed for budget monitoring.
  • Assist with month end financial processes in coordination with the external accounting consultant.
  • Gather records, reports, and documentation requested by the external accounting consultant and auditors.
Day to Day Financial Operations
  • Deposit allocations and bank deposits
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Preparation of routine journal entries
  • Contract and purchasing documentation
  • Invoice preparation and processing
  • Payroll processing and coordination
  • Claims submission and reimbursement tracking
  • Quick Books reconciliations
  • Vendor records and financial documentation
Donations & Advancement Reconciliation
  • Process and track incoming donations in coordination with the Advancement team.
  • Ensure gifts are properly recorded and allocated.
  • Prepare charitable contribution acknowledgements and tax receipts.
  • Reconcile fundraising and donor records with accounting records.
  • Help identify and resolve discrepancies between financial and donor records.
  • Maintain accurate banking and financial system records.
  • Coordinate authorized user and account access changes when needed.
  • Maintain organized documentation of financial procedures, vendor information, contracts, and other key operational records.
  • Help ensure financial records and supporting documentation are complete, organized, and easily accessible.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related financial role.
  • Working knowledge of financial reports, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software.
  • Experience with Bloomerang or another fundraising CRM platform is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and recurring financial responsibilities.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with leadership, staff, and an external accounting consultant.
  • Good judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred but not required.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Status: Joy’s House is open to considering either a full time or part time arrangement based on the experience and availability of the selected candidate. Responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly for part time employment.

Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 annually for a full time position. Part time compensation will be prorated based on the agreed upon schedule.
