This is a full-time Staff Accountant role for a client company of Vaco by Highspring, located in Indianapolis, IN. This individual will be instrumental in managing key accounting functions, including comprehensive month-end activities, detailed reconciliations, and the preparation of vital financial data to ensure accuracy and support the client’s operational transparency.
- Month-End Management:
Systematically handle all aspects of month-end close activities, meticulously preparing and creating accurate journal entries to ensure all financial transactions are correctly recorded and period-end balances are precise. - General Ledger & Account Analysis:
Execute thorough general ledger (GL) and account reconciliation processes, performing in-depth analysis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across all accounts. - Bank Reconciliation & Updates:
Conduct daily bank reconciliation procedures, diligently reviewing and matching bank statements with internal records, and providing timely updates on cash positions to maintain comprehensive financial oversight. - Accrual Entry Posting:
Accurately post monthly accrual journal entries, ensuring that revenues and expenses are recognized in the correct accounting periods to comply with established accounting principles and present a true financial picture. - Fixed Asset Oversight:
Manage the fixed assets roll forward process and calculate depreciation accurately, maintaining detailed records of company assets and their systematic allocation of costs over their useful lives.
- Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, providing a foundational understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, and analytical techniques essential for this early career role. - Experience:
A minimum of 0-3 years of work experience is required, demonstrating initial exposure to accounting practices and financial operations, ideally within a corporate or professional setting. - Skills:
Core competencies include proficiency in preparing journal entries, performing general ledger and account reconciliations, executing bank reconciliations, managing monthly accrual entries, and understanding fixed asset roll forwards and depreciation calculations. - Bonus:
Preferred qualifications include holding a CPA certification or having made progress towards it, and prior experience gained within a public accounting environment, which would bring additional valuable insights to the team.
