Position: Administrative Assistant I
Location: Terre Town

Job Summary

Under general supervision, provides student services and general administrative support activities to University personnel, primarily in the School of Music.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the recital attendance records and database for current music students (needed for graduation requirement)
  • Manage the programming and event/room scheduling for the School of Music
  • Coordinate student scheduling including fall/spring/summer terms and ensembles
  • Assist in administrative tasks for special department events such as student meetings/sessions, All Star Band, Jazz Fest, President’s Concert, Contemporary Music Festival, and Concerto/Aria Competition
  • Coordinate student auditions for admission into the School of Music and plan audition days with department personnel
  • Manage marketing and communication tasks such as weekly email blasts, alumni, prospective student, and foundation emails, ISU live for our buildings, and assisting with social media
  • Manage the keys and key pads for the department
  • Oversee student employees who work in the music office
Required

Education and Experience

Education:

High School diploma or GED;

Experience:

1‑2 years. Will consider student assistants or graduate assistants who have worked in a business or college/university office.
OR

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree at time of hire.

Preferred

Education and Experience

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Music.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Has authority or responsibility for the supervision of student workers or graduate assistants only.

Benefits

Sick Leave:
Accrues at a rate of 12 days per fiscal year with unlimited accumulation.
Life Insurance:
Coverage amount is based on two and one‑half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum of $100,000;
University pays full cost.
Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage:
Cost shared between employee and University; rates based on Wellness Program participation and tobacco use; coverage available on the first of the month following appointment date.
Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF):
Employee share 3 % paid by ISU; employer share determined annually; no cost to employee; minimum of 10 years service required for vesting.
TIAA Auto Enroll:
New employees automatically enrolled; 3 % deducted before taxes; opt out within 90 days.
Long Term Disability Coverage:
Eligible after 3 years of continuous employment; provides 66 ⅔ % income protection after 180 days of total disability.
Fee Waiver Program:
Employee, spouse and dependent children may enroll for reduced tuition and fee waivers per academic year.
Vacation: 12‑20 days per year based on years of service.
Convenience Day:
One per fiscal year.
