Location: Indianapolis

Vaco has partnered with a client located on the south west side of Indianapolis to hire a Paper & Packaging Sales Executive. This individual will play a critical role in managing key client relationships and driving business growth in the packaging solutions sector, with a focus on temperature-sensitive packaging, corrugated materials, plastic films, and other packaging products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs are met while driving customer satisfaction.
  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of packaging (corrugated and flexible) and the paper market to provide tailored solutions to clients.
  • Collaborate with the sales, production, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of client orders and projects.
  • Analyze client requirements, ask the right questions, and proactively offer strategic packaging solutions that meet their needs.
  • Work directly with clients, prospects, and internal teams to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of services and products.
  • Utilize prior experience in distribution and manufacturing to navigate client needs and optimize processes.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing, including upselling and identifying opportunities for new business.
  • Suggest and implement strategic changes to streamline operations and improve client satisfaction.
  • Guide clients through the sales process, ensuring smooth interactions between all stakeholders.
  • Drive business development and revenue growth through successful outside sales efforts.
  • Offer insight and expertise on paper market dynamics, machine processes, escalator and de-escalator charges, and collaboration with integrated paper producers.
  • Provide input and support during ERP system implementations and other operational improvements.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience working in the paper or flexible packaging market.
  • Strong background in outside sales, with a proven ability to develop new business and upsell existing clients.
  • In-depth understanding of temperature-sensitive packaging, corrugated materials, and plastic films.
  • Experience in the distribution and manufacturing sectors is essential.
  • Expertise in packaging systems, including knowledge of the paper market, machine operations, escalator/de-escalator charges, and working with integrated paper producers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to suggest strategic changes based on observations and client needs.
  • Previous experience in ERP system implementations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and collaborate effectively with internal teams.
  • A proactive, self-driven approach to sales and client management.
