Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist 1 joins the Supply Chain Department and supports sourcing and purchasing activities for an aerospace organization. This role is responsible for source selection, RFQ creation, purchase order management
, and supplier coordination to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform source selection and create Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
  • Request certifications from suppliers.
  • Create purchase orders under the designated threshold, at the discretion of the manager.
  • Perform negotiations with pre-approval from the manager and/or senior lead.
  • Monitor and track supplier acknowledgements and delivery status.
  • Assist senior buyers in the creation of Purchase Order documentation.
  • Track past due purchase orders and ensure SAP is updated with accurate status notes.
  • Troubleshoot supplier invoices and provide payment resolution.
  • Participate in supplier visits and assist in developing agendas for program reviews.
  • Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies necessary for operations.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of purchasing products and establish price objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance and evaluate opportunities to leverage material acquisitions.
  • Track price trends and market dynamics.
  • Review proposals, negotiate pricing, select or recommend suppliers, and maintain necessary records.
  • Prepare Request for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Quotes (RFQ), and bid packages as needed.
  • Maintain the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years of directly related government, industrial, or aerospace purchasing/subcontracting experience; OR
  • Associate Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of directly related government, industrial, or aerospace purchasing/subcontracting experience; OR
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of eight (8) years of directly related government, industrial, or aerospace purchasing/subcontracting experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and company proprietary data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to present financial information clearly and succinctly.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with suppliers and internal customers.
Nice‑to‑Have Experience
  • Experience in aerospace procurement environments.
  • Experience supporting government contracts.
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
