Location: Indianapolis

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Cost Estimator to join a collaborative estimating team supporting a range of new construction and renovation projects. This role plays a key part throughout the project lifecycle — from early concept through construction, delivering accurate cost advice and strategic insight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review construction drawings and specifications during preconstruction to perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates across architectural, structural, and civil scopes
  • Develop value engineering options, cost strategies, and alternative pricing scenarios
  • Produce independent post-contract estimates and analyze variances in scope, quantities, and pricing against contractor submissions
  • Conduct plan and specification analysis, takeoffs, and pricing for multiple project types
  • Lead estimating efforts on assigned projects
  • Review team estimates prior to final leadership review
  • Compile and analyze cost drivers including materials, labor, equipment, and margins
  • Evaluate cost deliverables prepared by architects and engineers to support cost containment
  • Gather and assess historical cost data and vendor pricing to inform estimates
  • Forecast project costs and evaluate financial impacts of design or scope changes
  • Prepare technical evaluations, draft reports, and client recommendations
  • Attend client meetings and present cost updates and findings
  • Participate in design charrettes, workshops, value engineering sessions, and contractor negotiations
  • Review contractor draw requests and prepare work-in-progress valuations
  • Support training and mentoring of junior team members
  • Collaborate across project teams to drive strong performance and communication
  • Contribute to achieving client project outcomes and identifying value opportunities
Qualifications & Experience Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience
  • 5–10 years of construction cost estimating experience
  • Proven experience across multiple building types
  • Estimating exposure from conceptual/programming through construction documents
  • Experience in both elemental and CSI formats
  • Background covering architectural, structural, and civil scopes
  • Some MEP estimating experience is advantageous
Certifications (preferred)
  • Professional cost or quantity surveying certifications (e.g., RICS, CCP, AACE or similar)
