Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Construction Plans Reviewer to support life safety and fire protection compliance work within healthcare facilities. This is a hands‑on role that combines plan review, fieldwork, and real‑world building assessment. Training will be provided.
This position is a strong fit for recent graduates in the construction or architecture field who want to apply their knowledge of construction drawings and building systems in a practical, project‑based environment.
What You’ll Do- Review architectural and construction drawings to understand building layout and systems
- Assist with evaluating buildings for compliance with life safety and fire protection requirements
- Travel to healthcare facilities to support on‑site assessments
- Identify and document building conditions that do not align with plans or code requirements
- Take and organize field photos of observed conditions
- Mark up drawings (including color‑coding life safety elements and deficiencies)
- Compile clear, well‑organized documentation for project teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering / Technology, Architecture or Architectural Design, or a related field
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Solid communication and organizational skills
- Internship or hands‑on construction/project experience
- Exposure to AutoCAD or similar tools
- Interest in building systems, life safety, or fire protection
- Mix of fieldwork and office work
- Travel typically alternates: one week on‑site, one week in the office
- Occasional extended trips (up to two weeks) for larger projects
- Office located on the west side of Indianapolis
- Training provided with a clear path to grow into more technical roles
- Hands‑on experience working with real buildings and construction systems
- Opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals in construction and design
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 – $33.65 per hour.
