Pre-Engineered Steel Building Laborer Job Summary
The Pre-Engineered Steel Building Laborer supports the construction, assembly, and installation of pre-engineered metal building systems at job sites. This role involves hands‑on labor assisting skilled tradespeople, handling materials, operating tools, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the erection of pre-engineered steel buildings, including frames, columns, beams, girts, and purlins
- Load, unload, and move steel materials, panels, and construction supplies
- Assist in installing metal wall panels, roof panels, insulation, trim, and fasteners
- Operate and maintain hand tools and basic power tools
- Work safely at heights using ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and fall-protection systems
- Follow blueprints and instructions from supervisors
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Follow all company and OSHA safety requirements
- Assist with site preparation and cleanup
- Perform additional labor tasks as needed
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Construction or steel erection experience preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of construction tools
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds regularly
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working at heights
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Lift or forklift operation experience a plus
- Ability to read basic blueprints
Outdoor construction sites with exposure to noise, dust, weather conditions, and heavy equipment. Travel may be required depending on project locations.
