About the Opportunity

A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects throughout Indiana. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of roadway, bridge, utility, and site development projects while collaborating with engineers, contractors, and public agencies to ensure quality construction and compliance with project specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily construction inspections on transportation and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Review construction materials, workmanship, and installation procedures.
  • Document project progress through detailed field reports, daily diaries, and photographic records.
  • Conduct measurements and quantity calculations for pay estimates.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, utility companies, and agency representatives.
  • Identify construction issues and communicate recommendations for resolution.
  • Verify compliance with safety requirements and traffic control standards.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and final inspections.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience performing construction inspection on roadway, bridge, utility, or transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with INDOT standards, specifications, and construction practices preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction documentation software.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Experience
  • INDOT construction inspection experience.
  • Certifications such as INDOT Certified Technician, ACI, ICC, or related industry credentials.
  • Experience with bridge rehabilitation, roadway reconstruction, utility coordination, or traffic maintenance projects.
