Join our team as a Construction Inspector and be the backbone of quality assurance on complex infrastructure projects. As our Construction Inspector, you'll oversee critical inspection efforts on diverse construction sites involving roadways, bridges, utilities, drainage, and earthworks, ensuring every element meets rigorous standards and specifications. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise across multiple construction disciplines while collaborating with engineers, contractors, and project managers on projects that directly shape and improve the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure, and bridge construction
  • Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications
  • Provide general inspection on construction labor and subcontracted tasks
  • Provide reports on assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and quantity of materials received
  • Perform on-site material testing and verification
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment
  • Create and compile close out / final construction records documents for submission

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, required
  • Ability to obtain all INDOT Certified Technician Courses in first year of employment
  • 2 – 8 years of experience in construction management or construction inspection of roadway, bridges and/or grading
  • INDOT Project Site Manager and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and able to travel within the region, required
  • Ability to work in inclement weather, work on a construction site, be exposed to heavy construction equipment, and walking
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
