TITLE:
Project Safety Specialist II
LOCATION:
Gas City, Indiana
The function of this position is to independently support and coordinate safety execution activities across industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, and commercial construction projects with minimal oversight.
The Project Safety Specialist II serves as a key partner to project teams, operations leadership, customers, and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safe project execution. This role supports the Indiana Regional Office (IRO) and is responsible for both field-based and administrative safety functions, including project startup support, safety documentation review, compliance monitoring, site visits, employee engagement, training, and incident prevention.
The successful candidate will support smaller-scale construction projects, emergency-response assignments, and ongoing field operations throughout the region while assisting project teams with safety planning, subcontractor compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position may support one project or multiple projects simultaneously and requires flexibility to respond to changing business needs across a regional territory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Demonstrate commitment to CCC's people-based safety culture and adhere to all requirements outlined in the CCC Corporate Safety Manual.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer safety requirements, and CCC safety policies and procedures.
- Partner with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, craft personnel, subcontractors, and customers to promote safe work practices and project success.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific safety plans.
- Conduct employee, visitor, and subcontractor safety orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation, including:
- Site-Specific Safety Plans
- Silica Control Plans
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Programs
- Confined Space Programs
- Fall Protection Plans
- Customer-specific safety requirements
- Support the Indiana Regional Office on smaller-scale construction projects and emergency-response work assignments.
- Conduct site visits and safety assessments for projects typically ranging from 1-6 workers but varying based on project scope.
- Assist project teams with project startup activities, safety readiness reviews, and customer onboarding requirements.
- Facilitate pre-task planning meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Safe Work Planning activities.
- Perform routine safety inspections, audits, compliance assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, injuries, and property damage events.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety meetings, and specialized safety training programs.
- Maintain employee training records, certifications, qualification tracking, and compliance documentation.
- Manage project safety reports and documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
- Assist teams with safety-related paperwork, administrative support, and compliance tracking activities.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance and support corrective action efforts when necessary.
- Participate in weekly safety walks, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build positive working relationships with customers, employees, subcontractors, and project leadership.
- Provide temporary project safety support and coverage for active construction projects as needed.
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of construction safety experience supporting industrial, commercial, manufacturing, maintenance, or contractor-based projects.
