The Estimator is responsible for accurately evaluating landscape installation project costs. This role plays a critical part in developing competitive and profitable cost examine and assisting project management teams with cost tracking and budget control. This requires a professional with a deep understanding of site development, materials, and labor costs, capable of producing accurate and competitive estimates for residential, commercial, and community projects.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can interpret complex construction documents, and collaborates effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure every proposal reflects our commitment to precision, quality, and profitability.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and addenda for landscape and hardscape projects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for all site elements, including grading, irrigation, planting, pavers, retaining walls, concrete, lighting, and outdoor features.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure coverage and competitive pricing.
- Develop complete cost estimates including labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead components.
- Prepare bid packages, cost proposals, and value-engineering alternatives.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess conditions and incorporate findings into estimates.
- Coordinate with internal teams including designers, project managers, and field staff to validate constructability and cost assumptions.
- Assist in project hand-off to field operations with budgets, scope notes, and schedules.
- Maintain historical cost data and participate in continuous improvement of the estimating process.
- 3+ years of estimating experience in landscape, hardscape, or site development projects (commercial or luxury residential).
- Strong understanding of landscape construction practices and materials.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as Aspire, B2W, Builder Trend, Plan Swift, or Bluebeam) preferred.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting landscape architecture and civil construction plans.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
