We are looking for a creative, organized, and proactive Events & Communication Specialist to join our team. This role is the heartbeat of our Main Street initiatives, blending high-energy event execution with strategic digital storytelling.
The RoleAs the Events & Communication Specialist, you will be responsible for the year-round pulse of our community. From planning large-scale festivals to managing our digital presence and supporting historic preservation efforts, you will ensure our mission is visible, professional, and impactful.
Key ResponsibilitiesEvent Planning & Coordination
- Plan, organize, and execute Main Street events year-round.
- Manage all logistics: vendor communication, permits, and on-site operations.
- Track and evaluate event success and ROI to improve future programming.
Communication & Promotion
- Create and manage newsletters, press releases, social media content, and communication materials.
- Produce engaging video content (Cap Cut, Adobe Premiere) and digital graphics.
- Strengthen brand visibility and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
Preservation Commission Support
- Provide administrative support to the Historic Preservation Commission, including meeting minutes and scheduling.
- Support behind-the-scenes communication and documentation for the Preserv
INg Grant and other major initiatives.
- The Ultimate Juggler: You can manage multiple projects, timelines, and logistics without dropping the ball.
- A Natural Communicator: You are a clear writer and confident communicator across email, social media, and public-facing materials.
- A Creative Problem-Solver: You can turn ideas into engaging content and solve problems on the fly with limited resources.
- A Community Builder: You enjoy being out in the community building relationships with businesses, volunteers, and residents.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in event planning, coordination, or community programming (non-profit experience is a plus).
- Technical
Skills:
Proven experience managing professional social media accounts, email marketing, and proficiency in video editing and design tools. - Flexibility: Ability to work evenings and weekends to support events and meetings as needed.
- Work-Life Balance: We offer a flexible schedule and earned compensatory time off for weekend events to support a healthy work-life balance. Comp time is banked over 40 hours and must be used quarterly.
