Summary

The Worship Leader works under the supervision of the Lead Pastor to develop Spirit-led and engaging praise time during our weekend services. This position requires a constant posture of humility, discernment, and teachability. The Worship Leader must be passionate about creating inviting and engaging atmospheres for worshippers to encounter Jesus, be excited about building and maintaining teams, and have good interpersonal skills to work with many people from different backgrounds to accomplish the mission and vision of Central Ministries as
established by the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be a spiritually, mentally, and emotionally mature leader who is both called and affirmed to ministry.
  • Exemplifies fruits of the Spirit in day-to-day life, both at work and at home.
  • Must be a competent leader of people who is focused on developing the spiritual maturity of his or her teams.
  • Experience leading praise for at least 2 years is required; 5+ years is preferred.
  • Experience leading larger teams is a bonus.
  • Must be aligned with and committed to the culture and vision of Central Ministries.
  • Must be a vocalist and instrumentalist who exemplifies excellence in music.
  • Must be organized and have administrative skills to manage platforms (such as Planning Center Online) and schedules.
  • Must show initiative, and a willingness to grow as a musician and a Christ follower.
  • A degree in music or a related field is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities

Administrative

  • Lead the Worship Leader Team by meeting regularly and advancing the vision, working closely with the Lead Pastor.
  • The Worship Leader Team reports to the Worship Leader.
  • Facilitate auditions for and actively recruit new team members.
  • Schedule worship leaders (both Friday and Sunday services).
  • Schedule band and vocalists (both Friday and Sunday services).
  • Create or procure charts, mp3s, and any other music resources via Planning Center Online or other systems (, etc.).
  • Lead a mid‑week rehearsal with available band and vocalists on Thursday nights for Sunday morning services.
  • Recruit and lead a choir (Choir is on stage once a month for Sunday services).
  • Record worship leader hours in Thread.
  • Create and manage the budget for Worship Arts.

Pastoral and Mentoring

  • Develop musicians and vocalists (in leading, musicality, etc.).
  • Identify and mentor worship leaders within our congregation.
  • Work with the Children’s and Student ministries for developing young musicians and serving any music needs.
  • Regularly communicate with and pastor volunteers who serve in the Praise Team Ministry.

Creative and Technical

  • Prayerfully discern the songs needed for each service.
  • Prepare musically for each service.
  • Work with the Stage Design team for brainstorming and implementing occasional stage changes, and various decor changes throughout the building.
  • Work with the Creative Director (and/or Technical Director) in technical support systems for music (In the absence of a Creative Director or Technical Director, technical support systems default to the Worship Leader).
  • Be available for any services held outside of Friday and Sunday morning.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor on developing and hosting Night of Worship and other services outside of Friday and Sunday.
  • Coordinate with the Lead Pastor and Worship Leaders on service elements and flow, staying aligned with the theme for the service.
Expectations for Staff
  • Agree with the Central Ministries Statement of Faith and other documents/statements.
  • Actively and regularly tithe.
  • Be involved in a Life Group at Central.
  • Maintain regular work hours and accomplish weekly objectives with regularity.
  • Initiate and maintain open communication with your supervisor and other staff.
  • Attend monthly “All Staff” meetings, as well as other regular and unscheduled meetings when called upon.
  • Be willing and available to assist where needed in other ministry areas.

Salary commensurate with experience.
