Hospitality + Event Coordinator

1101 E 16th Street, Indianapolis

$40,000 starting base

Full-time, salaried

$40,000 starting base

Tinker House Events is a wedding and event venue on the near east side of Indianapolis. Provider Café, our sister company, sits on the first floor and opens to the neighborhood every morning. One building, one front door. We book the upstairs, the café floor, or both, for every kind of event, and in January we open a coworking floor above the café.

We are hiring one person to hold that building open during the week, help run the events that fill it, and launch the coworking floor, from the reservation system to the marketing.

You would be the first face people see on a Tuesday morning, and behind the scenes on a Saturday wedding. Both matter here.

What you would do
  • Report to our Director of Weddings and Events and work alongside her on booking across both floors.
  • Host our second floor Monday through Thursday, 8:00a to 2:00p. Greet guests, manage table reservations, keep the room ready.
  • Launch the coworking space: learn the reservation system, own it, and market the January opening.
  • Grow into planning and executing your own smaller events, start to finish.
  • Keep every booking accurate in Tripleseat: dates, headcounts, timelines, payments. Clients feel it the moment a detail is wrong.
  • Capture and post content from real events, write our community email, and reply to comments and reviews.
The schedule

Monday through Thursday, 8:00a to 4:00p on site. The coworking floor is open until two and you are hosting the building alongside it, which is light touch: the same hours carry the real work of event planning, packets and content, with an eye on the room and on anyone who walks in. Afternoons are for finishing that and resetting the space for whatever comes next, a weekday booking or a weekend event.

There is a fifth day each week, usually a Friday or Saturday event, published at least two weeks ahead.

What would make you good at this
  • You have worked in hospitality, events, restaurants or hotels, and you know what a hard day looks like.
  • You are organized in a way other people can see. Things do not fall through when they reach you.
  • You pick up new software quickly. We run on Tripleseat, Square, Google Workspace and Slack.
  • You write a clear, warm client email without it needing a rewrite.
  • You are comfortable on camera and behind one, and available on event days, which means some weekends.

You do not need venue experience. You need to notice what needs doing and do it without being asked twice. We can teach the rest, and we have written down how.

What we offer
  • $40,000 to $42,500, full-time and salaried, with a compensation review at six months.
  • Health insurance, with the company paying a share of the premium.
  • Fifteen days of paid time off, plus six paid holidays including your birthday.
  • Phone stipend and complimentary food and beverage during shifts.
  • Company-paid industry networking events, and real investment in training and education, including paid time to attend rather than expecting it on your own hours.
  • Direct mentorship from our Director of Weddings and Events, in a standing weekly check-in rather than left to chance.
  • A written ninety-day training plan with a named person responsible for each week of it. You will not be handed a login and left alone.
  • Real ownership early. The coworking floor is yours to launch, not yours to assist on.
