Job Summary

Mutuel Teller must have a passion for meeting our customers’ needs. Mutuel Tellers must be friendly, customer service orientated, strong relationship builder and trustworthy.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer bets are placed correctly.
  • Cash or cancel tickets as requested by customer.
  • Draw or skim money as needed.
  • Provide customers with a list of scratches for tracks or results for races.
  • Understand pari‑mutuel wagering including reading tickets sold, tote keyboard and basic racing terminology.
  • Balance drawer at the end of shift and report all shortages to manager.
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding race sales and service.
  • Provide customer service regarding Horseshoe Indianapolis facility.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in customer service and banking/money handling preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, flexible, detail oriented.
  • Ability to read and write; basic computer knowledge; mathematical skills; knowledge of horse racing terms, betting and programs.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Available to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • At least 21 years of age or older and able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing License.
  • Outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must foster a fun environment, be gracious to all guests and coworkers, promote a positive influence in the community and participate in company-sponsored events.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Ensure behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.
  • Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
