Role Overview

The Seasonal Part‑time Customer Service Representative for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Transportation Services Call Center (TSCC) is a year‑round position responsible for accepting, logging and resolving requests from Indiana citizens and businesses in a timely and professional manner to provide superior customer service. The primary responsibility of this role is to respond to customer inquiries over the phone. When necessary, this role may also process online submissions from customers, and will escalation and coordinate with district partners to find resolutions for customer inquiries.

The position will work in the Indiana Government Center North office a minimum of three days a week year‑round depending on agency needs. There is potential for shift flexibility as office hours range from 7 am‑5 pm EST.

Location

This position is with INDOT's Central Office location.

Pay Rate

Hourly rate of $16.24.

A Day in the Life
  • Acts as customer service representative fielding customer service calls with superior customer service.
  • Performs administrative work such as opening/sorting mail, composing/editing correspondence related to assigned work, maintaining files, data entry, screening and directing telephone calls.
  • Maintains and organizes files and databases related to tracking customer requests, investigations and system responses.
  • Researches and responds to inquiries and special projects and prepares reports.
What You'll Need for Success
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Considerable computer skills with Microsoft Office Software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; write letters, papers, and reports; handle sensitive and face‑to‑face inquiries and contacts with the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
