- Leadership/teaching:
The VA Endodontics Section & Residency Program Director devotes 24 hours per week to the Section & Program. One Endodontic Resident is selected every other year and four GP Residents are selected every year. - Patient Centered Care:
Approximately 4 to 8 outpatient patients per day (varies based on non-surgical versus surgical endodontic procedures and or special patient considerations), allowing for in-depth, patient-focused care. - Program Didactics:
The VA Endodontic Resident enrolls for the residency didactic courses at the IU School of Dentistry Endodontic Graduate Program. An MSD may be earned from IUSD if all their requirements are determined to be successfully completed by IUSD. - Regular
Hours:
Typical shift M-F, 8:00am-4:30pm, with other shift hours available.- Opportunity for full time is preferred, but 24 hours per week must be devoted to the Residency Program.
- Interdisciplinary Team:
Work alongside Periodontists, Endodontic Consultants, General Dentists, Residents in Periodontics and Hospital Based General Practice, Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, Radiation Oncologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Cardiac Surgeons, Oncologists, Neurologists, Hospitalists, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers and other healthcare professionals, leveraging a team-based approach to evidence based care. Digital Radiography (Cone Beam CT, etc.) is used. - Affiliations:
Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana University School of Dentistry, Butler University School of Pharmacy. Application for an Academic Appointment in Endodontics would be submitted to the IU School of Dentistry Department of Endodontics.
- Doctor of Dental surgery (DDS) or Dental Medicine (DMD) from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited program.
- Completion of an approved residency program in Endodontics.
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
- Board Diplomate in Endodontics by the American Association of Endodontics.
Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME). Opportunity for paid parental leave.
Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

CME:
Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
