Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our privately owned dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office while providing exceptional care to our patients. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.

We are open to a full‑time or part‑time position.

• Assist dentists during various procedures, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for patients.
• Place resin fillings and temporary crowns.
• Prepare and maintain the dental operatory by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available.
• Perform medical imaging and assist with diagnostic procedures as needed.
• Utilize four‑handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and efficiency during treatments.
• Maintain accurate patient records using dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
• Educate patients on post‑operative care and general oral hygiene practices.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and compliance with health regulations.
• Assist in administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.

• Previous experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Must possess a valid radiology licence or be willing to obtain one upon hiring.
