Clinical Assistant Professor in Community Engagement
The Indiana University School of Dentistry is currently recruiting for a full‑time (1.0 FTE) clinical‑track faculty position focused on Community‑Based Dental Education (CBDE) within our Department of Dental Public Health and Dental Informatics. The position is at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Review of applicants will begin immediately. The anticipated start date is negotiable, with a preferred start of September 1, 2026, or as soon thereafter as possible.
Our department has a long‑standing commitment to community‑based education, public health practice, and service‑learning. We are seeking a faculty member who will serve as course director and coordinate CBDE activities, strengthen partnerships with community clinical sites and public health agencies, and support community‑based learning opportunities for students across our educational programs.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee CBDE student rotations, community‑based educational experiences, and service‑learning activities.
- Provide instruction and direct the CBDE courses and curriculum within the pre‑doctoral dental education program, including student assessment and program evaluation and improvement.
- Support development and maintenance of community clinical sites and external partnerships that support student learning experiences.
- Contribute to didactic, community‑based, and service‑learning activities in Dental Public Health and related areas.
- Mentor predoctoral and graduate students engaged in community‑based and public health activities.
- Develop and disseminate community‑engaged scholarship, including program evaluation, assessment activities, and peer‑reviewed publications.
- Participate in institutional service at the department, school, and university levels.
- Collaborate with community clinical sites, public health agencies, and external partners to support community‑based educational experiences and service‑learning activities.
- DDS or DMD from a CODA‑accredited program or equivalent.
- Eligibility for licensure in the state of Indiana.
- Experience in community‑based dental education, service‑learning, public health practice, or related educational activities.
- Experience coordinating community‑based educational or student rotation activities.
- Experience collaborating with clinical partners and community organizations.
- Evidence of scholarly or professional activities related to community engagement, public health, oral health promotion, program evaluation, or related areas.
- An MPH, MS, MSD, PhD, DPH, or related degree as well as a certificate of specialty study in public health.
- Experience developing, coordinating, and evaluating community‑based dental education or service‑learning programs.
- Grant writing and management experience.
