The Role
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Commercial Interior Designer to join our Indianapolis headquarters team. This is an in-office role where you will be responsible for creating professional workspace and commercial solutions that blend aesthetic appeal with functional, commercial-grade utility.
You will play a vital role in project continuity and quality assurance. Working alongside our internal processing, sales, and installation teams, you will ensure the final workspace perfectly aligns with the client’s expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet directly with clients independent of or with an Account Executive to uncover project requirements, determine possible design concepts, and provide recommendations for tailored furniture solutions.
- Conduct on-site visits to capture accurate field measurements, assess existing space conditions and/or architectural considerations, and ensure specified furniture integrates perfectly with the physical space.
- Design functional 2D/3D layouts, typicals, and space plans across corporate, healthcare, education, and government environments.
- Utilize commercial drawing and specification software to accurately specify furniture appropriate to the project and generate a precise bill of materials (BOM).
- Communicate with sales and installation team members and the client throughout all phases of the project to manage design revisions, track project details, and ensure that what the client receives on delivery day matches their expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1 year of design experience required, specifically within a commercial office furniture-related role.
Familiarity with industry manufacturers and products is a plus. - Proficiency with space planning and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CET Designer, Cyncly, or equivalent) and the ability to produce accurate floor plans.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple project timelines simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work closely with sales, installers, vendors, and clients to clarify requirements.
- Comfort with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or equivalent professional experience in a furniture dealership or as a commercial designer.
