Role Overview:
Serve as a licensed architect within Guidon’s multidisciplinary architecture and engineering team, with a primary focus on the design and delivery of inpatient and outpatient healthcare projects. This role will provide strong healthcare design and technical expertise throughout all phases of a project, working closely with clients, project teams, engineers, and consultants to develop thoughtful, functional, and high-performing healthcare environments. The Healthcare Architect will lead design conversations, guide multidisciplinary coordination, oversee the development of high-quality construction documents, and help ensure projects meet healthcare-specific codes, regulations, operational needs, and client expectations.
This role will also serve as a mentor and technical resource for architectural staff while contributing to the continued growth, knowledge, and advancement of Guidon’s healthcare practice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Registration.
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare architecture
- Strong knowledge of healthcare facility design, including codes, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Ability to lead client design meetings.
- Strong experience in designing inpatient and outpatient healthcare projects.
- Ability to put together a high-quality set of construction documents for healthcare buildings.
- Ability to prepare construction documents using Revit.
- A working understanding of computer applications used in a professional design office such as Photoshop, AutoCAD and Sketchup.
- Ability to lead the coordination with outside disciplines to drive design documentation/ solutions.
- In-depth understanding of healthcare facility design, operational workflows, and regulatory compliance requirements. Firm understanding of FGI Guidelines, Life Safety Codes and CMS Requirements.
- Ability to mentor, provide guidance and be a professional educator for junior architectural staff.
Experience:
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and LEED or WELL certifications is a plus.
- Knowledge of VA and DoD healthcare projects or experience with government contracts is highly desirable.
- ACHA Board Certified Healthcare Architect is a plus.
- Being familiar with FGI Guidelines and NFPA
101 Life Safety Requirements is a plus. - Experience contributing to industry thought leadership through white papers, articles, research, or other professional publications.
- Experience presenting at healthcare, design, or industry-related conferences, panels, or professional events.
- Active involvement in professional organizations or industry groups that support the advancement of healthcare design and practice.
- Demonstrated interest in staying current on healthcare industry trends, best practices, and emerging approaches.
