WORK BASED LEARNING COORDINATOR

Required Qualifications:

● Appropriate Teacher Licensure for the state of Indiana.

Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and grow, collaborative, people person.

● Use of excellent classroom management and instructional planning skills.

Preferred (but not required)

Qualifications:

● Work Based Learning License or School Counseling License

○ Workplace Specialist License qualifications:

○ Employment in an accredited educational program to teach in a specific vocational area. If working through the Department of Corrections, the applicant must submit a letter on DOC letterhead indicating that employment will occur if

license is obtained.

○ Occupational experience in a specific vocational area (Select one):

■ 5,000 hours (about 2.5 years of experience) in the last five (5) years.

■ 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and demonstration of occupational competency test.

■ 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and evidence of occupational licensure or occupational proficiency based on approved regional, state, or national board training and evaluation.

■ 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and completion of an accredited 2-year or higher degree in the specific certification area

■ 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and completion of an apprenticeship or internship program.

● Experience in career counseling or work-based learning.

● Strong organizational and communication skills.

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Duties:

SUMMARY:

The Work Based Learning Coordinator and Career Coach is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive work-based learning program for students in grades 9-12.

This includes coordinating with local businesses and organizations to provide students with opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and other career exploration experiences.

The Coordinator is also responsible for developing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate career exploration instruction to students in grades K-8.

This role involves fostering curiosity about the world of work, introducing students to diverse career pathways, and helping them connect their interests and skills to future possibilities.

The teacher will create a dynamic learning environment that utilizes hands-on activities, guest speakers, field trips, and technology to inspire students to explore their career aspirations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive work-based learning program for students in grades 9-12.

2. Coordinate with local businesses and organizations to provide students with opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and other career exploration

experiences.

3. Provide students with career counseling and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their future.

4. Develop and maintain relationships with local employers.

5. Promote the work-based learning program to students and parents, including, but not limited to, holding resume building and interviewing workshops.

6. Track student progress in work-based learning experiences, including on-site visits and observations.

7. Evaluate the effectiveness of the work-based learning program.

8. Stay current on best practices in work-based learning.

9. Develop and implement a comprehensive career exploration program for students in grades K-8.

10. Design and implement a comprehensive career exploration curriculum aligned with state and national standards.

11. Deliver engaging lessons that introduce students to a wide range of career options, including those in STEM, the arts, trades, and non-profit sectors.

12. Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, projects, guest speakers, field trips, and technology integration.

13. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

14. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate career exploration concepts into core academic subjects.

15. Organize career fairs, workshops, and presentations featuring local professionals.

16. Arrange field trips to workplaces to provide real-world insights into various careers.
