High School Social Studies Teacher

Winamac Community High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Social Studies Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the complexities of history, geography, economics, and civics, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and academic success.

Responsibilities

* Develop and implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes critical thinking.

* Create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have access to the material.

* Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including lectures, discussions, group work, and multimedia resources, to enhance student learning.

* Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback and support for improvement.

* Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.

* Stay current with educational best practices and integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning.

* Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.

* Participate in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school events to contribute to the school community.

* Collaborate with other educators to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.

* Uphold school policies and procedures, promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field.

* Valid teaching license or certification in Social Studies for high school level.

* Strong knowledge of social studies content and pedagogy.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

* Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

* Proficiency in using educational technology and resources to enhance teaching and learning.

* Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful classroom environment.

* Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred but not required.

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
