Position:
Mt. Vernon High School Athletic Director
Overview of Position:
Promotes the academic and educational success of all athletes by managing programs focused on athletic development, character development, and academic leadership. Assumes responsibility for the athletic program, including supervision of coaches, distribution and collection of athletic equipment, maintenance of athletic facilities, scheduling of games and practices, hiring of officials, making game arrangements, and supervision of athletic events. Works collaboratively with the school administration, evaluates head coaches, participates in the hiring of coaches, assistant athletic director, and middle school athletic director, possesses strong human relations and communication skills;
demonstrates strong organizational and managerial skills; and demonstrates knowledge of corporation policies, the athletic handbook, and IHSAA bylaws and processes.
Job Description:
* Promotes positive relationships with all stakeholders
* Develops, manages, and evaluates all of the school's athletic programs
* Conducts evaluations of coaches and provides professional development opportunities
* Collaborates with educators, community stakeholders, and parents for the benefit of student-athletes
* Maintains the athletic website and social media profiles
* Maintains eligibility records for student-athletes
* Maintains records of health physicals for student-athletes
* Develops media and communication related to photos, videos, flyers, programs, and articles
* Demonstrates professionalism and serves as an exemplar for athletes and coaches
* Maintains inventory of athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies
* Conducts random drug testing with fidelity and consistency
* Adheres to the corporation, school, athletic, and IHSAA policies and bylaws
* Performs all duties assigned by the principal and central office administration for the benefit of the school and student body
* Assist with the academic development of student athletes, including overseeing and managing study tables, developing academic reports, and monitoring student academic performance.
* Maintain accurate records for State and IHSAA reporting
Requirements and
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a valid Indiana administrator's license and have held prior leadership positions.
Salary/Benefits/Days/
Contract:
* $124,165 is the base rate. $121,682 (year one), which is 98% of the base salary. Year two is 99% of the base salary.
* Benefits per administrative contract
* 260 Days
* The initial contract is a two-year contract with an opportunity to roll over one additional year after the first year if either an effective or highly effective performance appraisal is earned.
