Head Girls Basketball Coach

Reports To:

Building Principal & Athletic Director

• The high school head coach shall coach the varsity team within the philosophy of the school corporation.
• Maintain and coordinate a total program Varsity through Middle School while working together with applicable youth teams. (Elementary, AAU, Parks Dept. etc)
• Initiate and maintain good public relations within the school
• Act in a professional manner at all times
• Act in an advisory capacity to the athletic director on matters pertaining to the athletic department
• Operate the assigned program
• Recommend staff members to the Principal and Athletic Director
• Attend any mandatory IHSAA rules clinics, Mid-State Conference meetings, and other meetings designated by the Athletic Director
• Formulate job descriptions for the assistant coaches
• Be responsible for all squad members
• Coordinate practice times with the Athletic Director and prepare a detailed plan for each practice
• Maintain all documentation for the athlete's legal participation
• Be responsible for all present equipment, inventory and future needs
• Organize parent/athlete meetings.
• Notify the press of each interschool contest results
• Advise and assist any athlete with college athletic opportunities
• Establish and maintain a working relationship with universities
• Make every effort to have a scouting report on each opponent
• Perform other Volunteer responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director
• Read and understand rules, regulations and expectations
• Sign you have received a copy of the athletic and coaches handbooks each year
• Find a parent who will be the parent coordinator for the Adult Booster Club
• Must be a good role model
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the administration

• The preferred candidate will be a licensed teacher
• The preferred candidate will have experience working with high school aged student athletes
• The preferred candidate will have successful coaching experience on the high school level
• The preferred candidate will be highly organized with the ability to teach all skills in basketball
• The preferred candidate will be willing to develop a successful high school program and feeder system
