The High Ability Aide will have direct involvement with students in the instructional setting. Using lessons and activities created by the corporation's High Ability Teacher, the High Ability Aide's primary responsibility will be to facilitate learning for students identified as high ability in Kindergarten through 4th grade. The High Ability Aide may also help with the supervision of students during non instructional times (arrival, dismissal, etc.).
This position requires the person to be very flexible in accepting assigned tasks by their supervisor with a strong sense of teamwork needed. The individual in this position will interact with community members, parents, students and staff on a regular basis and will be expected to interact in a professional & friendly manner.
Starting hourly rate: $15
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must meet all Indiana requirements as a highly qualified Instructional Assistant.
- Two years of college or the equivalent is required in order to provide instruction to a student.
- A teaching license and/or educational training and experience is preferred.

- Follow the plans designed by the High Ability Teacher.
- Prepare instructional activities and facilitate learning to students identified as high ability in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.
- Assist in the identification process for Kindergarten through Fifth grade students as directed by the High Ability Director and High Ability Teacher.
- Work with the High Ability Teacher, classroom teacher or principal to inform families of the students who meet the criteria of High Ability services.
- Have a basic understanding of all Duneland curriculum, procedures and policies.
- Document student data when directed.
- Provide direct instruction to students with supervision of teacher.
- Conduct instructional activities assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
- A basic understanding of all Duneland curriculum at the assigned grade level.
- Attend meetings and maintain student data when directed.
- Learn and use software programs to supplement classroom instruction.
- Assist with the administration and scoring of student assessments.
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist teacher/principal/director with administrative records and preparation of required reports.
- Function as an appropriate role model for children, providing proper examples, emotional support, and a friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving student safety concerns and reporting those concerns to the direct supervisor.
- Attend professional development opportunities when available or requested.
- Keep teacher/principal/director informed of successes or concerns of individual students.
- Complete other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the building administrator or administrator designee.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships with all publics.
