Overview
St. Joseph Catholic School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven educator to lead a combined 7th/8th grade classroom in a small, supportive Catholic school environment. This position offers a unique opportunity for a teacher who values strong relationships, instructional clarity, and whole-group teaching to make a lasting impact during a critical stage of student development.
The teacher will be responsible for delivering instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, using a whole-group instructional model grounded in Dr. Mike Schmoker's Elevating the Essentials. Our instructional approach prioritizes clear learning objectives, purposeful direct instruction, frequent checks for understanding, and meaningful student engagement—allowing teachers to teach deeply, not frantically.

Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality whole-group instruction across all core content areas
- Design lessons with clear objectives, aligned to standards and Catholic values
- Utilize formative assessments to guide instruction and provide timely feedback
- Foster a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Integrate Catholic identity, service learning, and ethical reasoning where appropriate
- Collaborate with administration and colleagues to support school-wide instructional goals
- Bachelor s degree in Education or a related field (Middle School or Secondary preferred)
- Strong content knowledge and comfort teaching across multiple subject areas
- Commitment to whole-group instruction and instructional clarity
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
- Willingness to support and advance the mission of Catholic education
