Overview
The Indiana University (IU) Indianapolis School of Education (SoE) is committed to examining our collective role in improving the human condition. Responsibilities- Collaborates with the Director of Graduate Programs to develop, organize and implement graduate student support needs and initiatives in the SoE.
- Collaborates with the faculty advisor, program coordinators, and staff to ensure graduate students are progressing through their academic and/or licensure programs.
- Corresponds with and counsels prospective and current graduate students regarding their academic and licensure program; reviews program and licensure requirements, academic interest and abilities, and assists with admission and registration processes.
- Prepares graduate students to make decisions about courses, academic programs, and licensure additions by training them on the IU Indianapolis academic processes, policies, and state licensure systems.
- Informs students about licensing exam requirements and resources.
- Conducts student audits to recommend for degree and/or licensure.
- Collaborates with university departments on behalf of students (Bursar, Financial Aid, Graduate School, Office of International Affairs, Registrar, etc.).
- Works with the SoE faculty and staff in providing graduate presentations for admission, licensure, orientation, reinstatement, university systems, and where applicable.
- Conducts transcript review and evaluations.
- Develops and maintains confidential student files and records.
- Attends program, departmental, and university meetings.
- Organizes staff and provides support and oversight to recruiting events in order to increase graduate enrollment in the SoE.
- Assists with tracking and reporting of student information for licensure accreditation and/or university purposes.
- Initiates term activation, where applicable.
- Performs course authorizations, where applicable.
- Works with faculty and staff in the SoE and in other departments; identifies prospective students, creates correspondence, and collaborates efforts with the IU Indianapolis Graduate School.
- Supports SoE events and conferences; obtains student information, disseminates information, and plans presentations.
- Organizes, develops, and plans the graduate student program orientation.
- Provides documentation for accreditation purposes.
- Provides evening graduate advising and student support services.
- Presents advising updates during graduate evening classes (including course registration, graduation, licensing requirements, etc.).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
- Master's degree in a related field
- 5 years in education, student affairs, teaching, academic advising, social work, or related field
- Experience in a student-focused, higher education environment is highly desired
